About OutageKit

OutageKit is an independent review site for kit components. We help renters, condo owners, and building captains build a communications plan that works inside real urban constraints: concrete walls, limited roof access, shared corridors, HOA rules, balcony-only sky views, and batteries that have to last through the night.

How We Review

Every kit component on this site is evaluated against its role in an outage kit. We check licensing requirements, subscription costs, battery life, power draw, carrier support, setup friction, building fit, and the failure mode that matters most: what still works when mains power, Wi-Fi, and normal cell coverage are degraded. A modest weather radio can outrank expensive gear if it solves the actual problem better.
